ANAPA CITY

Anapa, along with the adjoining resort districts (Blagoveshchensk, Bimlyuk, Vitiazevo, Dzhemete, Sukko, Bolshoi Utrish) covers about 80 km along the Black Sea coast. The distance from Krasnodar up to Anapa — 163 km.

The rocky coasts and flat plateaus, sandy dunes and classical pebble beaches, the relic juniper forests and lunar landscapes of the mud hills - all this represents the resort of Anapa.

In here, it is possible both; to have a decent rest on a beach, and to undertake some interesting excursions.

1. "DOBRODEYA" PARK

The park is located at the territory of 1,5 hectares within 18 km from Anapa in a resort zone with a picturesque foothill landscape. The idea of revival of the national traditions lies in the basis of "Dobrodeya" project through a contact with images of Russian national fairy tales, and history of the Cossacks. A unique exposition of "The Cossack Farmstead" shows the history, life and customs, songs and cuisine of the Kuban Cossacks.

In addition, there are also presented two arts and crafts expositions of historical and cultural subjects - "The Cossack Farm" and "The Kingdom of Berendei".

2. ANCIENT GORGIPP

Duration — 10-11 hours.

The remains of the ancient city of Gorgippia lie in the vicinity of modern Anapa, at the area of more than 35 hectares. Greeks have founded Gorgippia at the turn of the IV-III centuries AD. It was a large crafts and trade city at the northeast coast of the Black sea.

Excavation began in the middle of the XIX century. By present time, some significant sites of the city and its burial grounds have been researched, and one of them is a well-known crypt of Heracles — an amazing find, as it has retained some fragments of the earliest antique frescos of Europe with depiction of 12 feats of Heracles.

In the center of Anapa there are open for viewing excavations of the ancient city's quarters, some household and residential constructions, and the famous Roman road. Right here there was found the Necropolis, a unique collection of stone gravestones. There is also a museum, where it is possible to see the finds received as a result of excavation and shedding light on the ancient city and its inhabitants.

3. THE DOLPHINARIUM OF UTRISH

Duration of show — 1 hour, available during the warm season.

Within 30 km from Anapa, in a beautiful place of Bolshoi Utrish, at the seacoast, there is situated a famous dolphinarium. The best way of getting here is by a steam-ship. The show program includes performances of the Black Sea dolphins, sea bears and a sea lioness. The participants of the show, under a watchful eye of the trainers, show to spectators the synchronous jumps through hoops, funny ball games, drawing of «surrealistic» pictures, which, subsequently, can be bought, and a huge amount of other tricks.
