Abrau LakeNOVOROSSIYSK The city stands at the coast of one of the most deep-water bays of the Black Sea — Tsemesskaya Bukhta. Novorossiysk is a seaport city, but there are also some resort settlements in its vicinities, such as Yuzhnaya Ozereevka, Abrau, Sukhaya Shchel, Shirokaya Balka, and Myskhako. In addition, Novorossiysk has a variety of archeological and historical monuments available, including the nature sanctuaries. For example, Abrau lake — the biggest lake of the Northern Caucasus. Moreover, there is the oldest factory of Russia on manufacture of "Abrau-Dyurso" sparkling wines. There was created a special museum at the factory, and a degustation hall. The historical and cognitive tourism is highly developed in Novorossiysk — the hero city is one of the most frequently visited places, due to the military operations in the Western Caucasus during the World War II. 1. ABRAU LAKE This largest fresh-water lake of Krasnodar Region, exceeding the size the well-known Ritz. Its length is over 2,600 m, the maximal width — 600 m, the area — 1.6 square km. The lake is keeping the secrets, connected with its origin: some scientists assume, that the hollow was formed because of a karst collapse, others think, that the lake is a remainder of the ancient Cimmerian fresh-water basin; also, they connect its occurrence with huge landslips. The glory of Abrau peninsula is not connected with the lake alone, but also with a museum of Taman wines. Dozens of tour buses arrive here in order to let the tourists learn the history of the wine making farm and taste the wines. 2. BEARING THE NAME OF RUSSIA Duration — 1 day. The excursion tells about events of the far-off days, which were taking place at the coast of Tsemesskaya bay, about the "birth" of Novorossiysk City and its prosperity. During excursion, tourists attend monuments, museums, and memorials of the city. 3. MALAYA ZEMLIA Duration — 1 day. Novorossiysk is one of the most frequently visited places, due to its military operations at the Western Caucasus during the World War II. The tourists familiarize themselves with a hard, heroic, and bright destiny of the hardworking hero city. The tourists visit a place of arms — Malaya Zemlia (the Small Land) and the Gallery of Fighting Glory situated at Malaya Zemlia, which appearance reminds a rostrum, stuck on the shore after a mighty effort, the monument ensemble of "The Defense Line" located at "Novorossiysko-Sukhumskoe" highway. They will see the famous Pullman car, riddled with bullets and shells, which has drawn a border beyond which the enemy failed to cross. The excursion includes a visit to the memorial complex, dedicated to heroes of the Civil and World War II, situated at the embankment named after Admiral Serebryakov, the entrance of which is marked with rostral columns, standing at the very seacoast. In addition, the tourists will visit a memorial complex of "The Valley of Death", seeing the monument of "Explosion", consisting of fragments of shells weighing about 1,250 kg — showing an exact amount of lethal metal dropped on each defender of the small land in those days. 4. DIVING AND THE SUBMARINE FISHING Duration — 1 day, available from June to September. The tour includes a transfer from Novorossiysk, a training program, hire of equipment, diving in the area of Novorossiysk, subsea fishing, and a fish soup picnic. Additional services: photo-and video sessions, a transfer to Novorossiysk from the place of a meeting and back. Special requirements to participants: absence of medical restrictions against subsea diving, swimming skills, aged 14 and above. |
