TUAPSINSKY AREA Tuapsinsky Area is located in the south of Krasnodar Region, within 175 km from Krasnodar. The area’s conditions are favorable for health improvement and sports tourism; also, there are many natural, cultural, and historical places of interest located here. Fascinating routes of cognitive excursions and the hikes are developed, in order to introduce the variety of unique beauty of natural riches, history, and culture of people, who inhabited this place long time ago. The area is rich with places of interest: Kiselyova Rock, Orlan Rock, Shipichatsky Stream, Semiglavaya Mountain, the Stone Sea, Indyuk Mountain, Shepsi Mountain, Shapsukho River, the rocks of Karatiansky Ridge, the gorge of Beshenaya River, and others. Besides, there are monuments of archeology, located in the territory of Tuapsinsky Area, including the dolmens, ancient settlements, and ancient sanctuaries. 1. THE WATERFALLS AT DEDERKOY STREAM The waterfalls are located at the middle part of the stream within 7 km from the mouth. Below the bottom fall, among a heap of boulders, there is a cascade of waterfalls; some of them received the following names: «The Gray-Haired Beard», «Blue», «Azure». The valley of Dederkoy Stream is known not only for its falls, but also for the apery found in the center in Paseka settlement, owing to which it is visited quite frequently. Previously the apery had about 400 monkeys delivered from Ethiopia in 1972. This is the most northern dwelling place of hamadryads in the world. Nowadays, it has only about one hundred monkeys. 2. POLNOVNICHY WATERFALLS Duration — 3-4 hours. The falls are found in the channel of Polkovnichy Stream, the right tributary of Dzhubga River, not far from Gorskoe settlement at the highway of Krasnodar — Dzhubga. The height waterfall is 18 m, including a number of cascades. The falls have been opened for mass tourist in 1960-70s. 3. THE DOLMEN IN DZHUBGA SETTLEMENT It is situated in the territory of a former sanatorium of Tsentrosoyuz, at the right bank Dzhubga River, within 1 km from the sea. This is a relatively large megalith construction with a height of up to 2.5 m, being up to 4 m long and about 3.5 m wide, dating back to the second half III millennium BC. The dolmen has a little stone yard, which used to limit the sacral space during cult ceremonies in the ancient times. Because of its size, the monument makes the tourists deeply impressed. 4. SEMIGLAVAYA MOUNTAIN The mountain, or a massif, to be more exact, closing the part of the Main Caucasian ridge from the east of Tuapse. At the distance of more than 4 kilometers, the seven tops, having absolute heights ranging from 1,352 up to 1,453 meters above sea level are scattered. |
